There are times when something is so evident that it hits you in the face like a freight train, it moves with a momentum that takes a life of its own. At first listen the sound of Criminal Birds is something like a force of nature, striking unexpectedly and making the listener wonder if they are in some sort of musical twilight zone.
Criminal Birds is comprised of Reggie Hastings, Taylor Dondlinger, Gunnar Ebeling and Grahm Robinson. Starting in high school Reggie, Taylor and Grahm have been writing and playing music together and since 2006 under the name Copasetic. Originally Criminal Birds was formed by Reggie and Grahm, with Gunnar joining then Talyor after a stint with the band North of Autumn.
What is the feeling of hearing Criminal Birds live, Deja Vu is what it is. The sound is so perfect and polished that it is impossible to know just by listening to them that what you are hearing is the birth of legends. Imagine if you could have been there when Coldplay had there first show, that was the feeling in The Prophet Bar when Criminal Birds played their debut show. Sounding like a cross between AWOLNATION and Cage The Elephant, Criminal birds pounded through a set that was on par with any big ticket national act, the songs flowed seamlessly and the energy built from the first note right through Taylor’s last rift.
